Goal Three
A safe workforce for First Nations and
Māori Fellows
The College is determined to ensure First Nations and Māori members have a safe and welcoming environment. In 2022, we implemented new initiatives, such as welcome events for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander trainees and break-out sessions, which were facilitated by Dr Elkie Hul. These provide an opportunity for participants to listen to, share and ask questions about training experiences with other trainees and Fellows, with a focus on trainee well-being and cultural safety.
We are committed to:
- adressing Indigenous health equity differences
- growing the Indigenous physician workforce
- equipping and educating the broader physician workforce to improve Indigenous health
- fostering a culturally safe and competent College
- meeting the new regulatory standards and requirements of the AMC and MCNZ.
